Amitruck is seeking a result-oriented Chief Technology Officer to drive and deliver the technological vision of Amitruck’ssolution. The focus of responsibilities will be to lead the growth and development of our engineering team with the aim to make Amitruck the leading trucking logistics platform in Kenya and across the continent. We are currently going through a very highgrowth period and we are looking for someone who will be able to hit the ground running, havea very proactive work ethic, and beinterested in developing African start-ups.
Duties and responsibilities
Technical leadership
Responsible for development lifecycle cycle end to end (Architecture, Design, Development, QA, deployment to production) Responsible for IT and R&D Quality•Responsible for production environment Security, SLA, and stability•MVP development: constantly improve the web-based platform andAmitruck’s native apps, while ensuring the high quality of work delivery from the engineering team. Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements or adjustments to technology Hiring: continue building Amitruck’s tech team (source, screen and interview candidates to check their technical knowledge) Mentoring: help junior developers, share knowledge and experience with the team Identifying tech stack: pick the best technologies for mobile or web development Operational management
Develop and drive technology vision for Amitruck in alignment with its business goals Team management: track tech team performance, mentor software developers Company strategy establishment: improve efficiency within tech-related work, optimize the company’s processes Company’s representative: attend conferences, identify tech partnerships, find developers Trends analysis: monitor tech trends within Amitruck field, decide to integrate trends
Qualifications & Experience
At least 5 years experience in a similar role Background in software development. This preferably includes some experience as a tech lead and/or software architect, ideally in a startup in Africa. Strategic thinking. Ability to see the big picture to achieve a product-market fit. Strong project management skills•Strong people skills. Ability to communicate easily down and upward within the team, as well as with external stakeholders (partners, investors, clients…) Ability to mentor others. Abilityto properly convey a product vision to other developers Willingness to learn constantly. Time management skills. Ability to set tasks and meet delivery deadlines at own and team levels Working conditions
